Nhà Báo và Nhà Giáo, đúng nghĩa, nó là Thiên Chức của cuộc sống Con Người Xã Hội, của xã hội văn minh. Thế nhưng với bọn Nhà Nước quốc gia bạo ngược, tự do truyền thông báo chí luôn luôn là KHỦNG BỐ. nếu chúng không khuất phục được Nhà Báo và Nhà Giáo làm tay sai thừa hành đắc lực cho chúng! Bọn Nhà Nước tất cả đều nỗ lực muốn Nhà Báo (và Nhà Giáo) trở thành công cụ tay sai thường trực của chúng!
Trước đây, đặc biệt trong thời chiến tranh lạnh, tự do báo chí luôn luôn bị đối xử là tội phạm, là khủng bố, là phảm động ở những xã hội theo Cộng Sản như SoViet, Trung Cộng, Cu Ba, Viet Nam, Băc Hàn v.v hoặc các xã hội độc tài quân phiệt hũu khuynh do Mỹ tạo dựng ủng hộ như ngụy VNCH, Pinoche, Sadam Husein, Pak Chung Hy, và các xã hội độc đoán thần quyền trung đông như Iran, Seoud Arabia, Bahrain v.v
Và hôm nay ở đầu thế kỷ 21 này, không chỉ Trung Cộng, Việt Nam, Cua Ba Bắc Hàn Miên Lào, Miến Điện hay các nước Hồi giáo như Iran, Seoud Arabia v.v vẫn còn qui tự do báo chí là phản động, tội phạm phản quốc v,v mà ngay Anh Mỹ đã vất đi mặt nạ “dân chủ” để quay về bản chất xếp tự do báo chí vào với khủng bố.
Sự kiện người bạn trai đồng tính của Glenn Greenwald bị mật vụ Mỹ và an ninh Anh quốc bắt giữ trong khi quá cảnh nước Anh, theo chính họ tuyên bố :
” là để nhắn một thông điệp đến những kẻ nhận thông tin của Snowden, gồm cả tờ Guardian, rằng nhà nước Anh đang nỗ lực đánh sập việc tiết lộ này ( was to send a message to recipients of Snowden’s materials, including the Guardian, that the British government was serious about trying to shut down the leaks.”)
Mục tiêu của nhà nước Anh Mỹ RÕ RÀNG là CHỈ LÀ MUỐN KHỦNG BỐ ĐÒI SỐNG và TINH THẦN của bất cứ ai có liên hệ gia đình thân thuộc đến những công dân tố cáo, và phải sách nhiễu quần thảo cho tất cả mệt nhoài và rã rời cho đến khi gục ngã hoặc/và khuất phục như Bradley Manning và gia đình.
Vì tất cả những ai có căn bản kiến thức và quá trình theo dõi sự kiện đều biết rằng, bắt giữ anh David Mirranda để lấy “hồ sơ” đó trong máy và USB v.v của anh, với từng ấy an ninh và mật vụ của Anh và Mỹ, chỉ cần vài phút là xong, không cần đến 9 tiếng đồng hồ! Cũng như để phá hủy hồ sơ trong máy MacBoook tại tòa báo Guardian có cần đến 9 tiếng đồng hồ đâu! Và cũng chẳng cần phí phạm đập cả cái máy, chỉ đạp nát cái ổ trữ liệu Hard Drive là đủ rồi!! Và đặc biệt là LẤY ĐI hay PHÁ HỦY những hồ sơ đó HOÀN TOÀN VÔ ÍCH CHẲNG CÓ TÁC DỤNG GÌ!!! Vì nó chỉ là MỘT trong NHỮNG BẢN PHỤ đang có mặt khắp nơi, do nhiều người khác nhau được Snowden trao cho cất giữ.
Và có cấm tờ Guardian ở Anh không được đăng tải, thì cũng chẳng cấm được chi nhánh Guardian ở các nơi khác ngừng đăng, hay các nhà báo độc lập khác trên thế giới ngưng đăng tải!!! Bọn Nhà Nước thừa biết điều này!!! Nhưng…
Chúng ta CẦN HIỂU RẰNG : Lý do Snowden, Glenn và nhũng ký giả khác phải MẬT MÃ HÓA hồ sơ của Snowden, là vì KHÔNG MUỐN nó bị ăn cắp và bị đăng bừa bãi trước khi phân tích và xóa bỏ những chi tiết của các cá nhân vô can có thể bị dùng làm áp lựcc tống tiền với nạn nhân và gia đình họ. Nghĩa là họ mật mã hóa vì muốn BẢO VỆ những cá nhân nhân viên công chức thừa hành và gia đình của những người này, chứ không phải muốn dấu bọn nhà nước an ninh. Bọn Nhà nước an ninh, chúng thừa biết những hồ sơ thông tin đó là những thứ gì, bởi chính chúng là tác giả trộm cắp tom góp đóng khối những thông tin này!!! Snowden, Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras .v.v chỉ là những người tận lực cẩn trọng tháo gỡ khối thông tin trộm cắp này để thông báo đến CHỦ NHÂN THẬT SỰ đã bị mất cắp: đó là QUẦN CHÚNG NHÂN DÂN của cả THẾ GIỚI!
Ngược lại bọn nhà nước an ninh lại dùng những hồ sơ này, như những lý cớ đề hành hung sách nhiễu và đe dọa THÂN NHÂN GIA ĐÌNH những người làm nghiệp vụ hay đúqng ra là thiên chức thông tin báo chí!
Mục tiêu của Nhà nước Anh Mỹ chỉ là KHỦNG BỐ! Từ KHỦNG BỐ ở đây đúng nghĩa từ điển và chính xác với thực tế sự kiện!
Nhà nước Anh Mỹ không chỉ dựa vào sức mạnh độc quyền bạo lực của nhà nước chính phủ, mà nó còn được mạnh mẽ và hũu hiệu thêm nhờ có một guồng máy đĩ điếm báo chí tay sai chính qui như BBC, Reuter, CNN, FOX News và hầu như gồm TẤT CẢ các nềnm báo chí chinh qui của tất cà các quốcx gia liên hệ “anh em” như Úc, Canada, Newzealand, Đúc, Thụy Điển, Hà Lan v.v Nó là cả một Guồng Máy!
Thí dụ như khi Glenn Greenwald ra phi trường Rio đón người bạn trai David Mirranda sau khi bị Anh bắt giữ, có trả lời báo chí ngay tại chỗ bằng tiếng Bồ Đào Nha (Portuguese) rằng “hành động đe dọa này sẽ không trấn áp được anh, và rằng anh sẽ tiếp tục làm công việc tường thuật và công bố nhũng gì Snowden trao cho anh”. Nhưng đám đĩ điếm báo chí chính qui Reuters cùa Anh Quốc đã xuyên tạc rằng Glenn Greenwald tuyên bố sẽ TRẢ THÙ BẰNG CÁCH ĐANG NHIỀU TIN HƠN NỮA về NƯỚC ANH!!!
Nhà nước nói riêng và xã hội Anh Mỹ nói chung đang lao xuống vực thẳm của độc tài bạo ngược, nhưng tại sao dân chúng lại thờ ơ đến thế? Phải chăng như người viết đã trình bày trong bài “thói quen huân tập chủng tử ngàn năm…vẫn bỏ được” rằng:
Người Ta cho rằng cần Nhà Nuớc Tận Thiện để bảo vệ Tự Do Nhân Quyền và An Toàn cho chúng ta, và qua “Khế Ước Xã Hội” chúng ta phải trao cho Nhà Nuớc cái Quyền tuyệt đối tước đi tất cả những thứ ấy khi nó cần. Nhưng nếu chúng ta tỏ ý không cần Nhà Nuớc thì Nhà Nuớc chính là kẻ đầu tiên sẽ cướp đi tất cả tự do nhân phẩm và mạng sống của chúng ta!Như thế cái gọi là “Khê Ước Xã Hội” tưởng tượng đó, hoàn toàn do kẻ cầm quyền nhân danh ảo thể Nhà Nước tùy tiện diễn giải, vì chưa từng một ai biết rõ những điều khoản của “Văn bản Khế Ước Xã Hội” đó như thế nào và chưa từng có một ai trên cõi đời này tự nguyện ký vào “văn bản khế uớc” đó! Nó hoàn toàn chỉ là một giả định mặc nhiên mà kẻ cầm quyền tùy tiện tuyên bố và diễn giải theo nhu cầu của bọn chúng. Nhà Nước (the State) và “Khế Uớc Xã Hội” (Social Contract) là hai điều mê tín (superstitions), giống như thuợng đế hay chúa, hay quỉ thần, tính hữu thể cùa nó tính hữu thểkhông tính hữu thểbao giờ có thể chứng minh được. Nó bị buộc phải tin và chấp nhận bằng bạo lực và khủng bố tinh thần miên tục hàng ngàn năm qua mà thôi
Đây chính là nguyên nhân tại sao Montesquieu từng nhận định rằng :”Một Quốc Gia có thề đánh mất những quyền tự do của họ trong một ngày và hàng thế kỷ chẳng tiếc nhớ những tự do này nữa“ A nation may lose its liberties in a day and not miss them in a century”-Charles de Montesquieu
Quần chúng các xã hội Âu Mỹ, những xã hội đầu tiên thiết lập những quyền tự do này, quả thật, đang trong một ngày tự nguyện đánh mất nó, và cũng đang chẳng có gì tiếc nhớ những tự do này nữa, NHỮNG QUYỀN TỰ DO mà 3/4 dân số và quốc gia còn lại của nhân loại chưa có khái niệm, chưa nghĩ đến được, và một số quần chúng trong đó đang khao khát đấu tranh để có.

‘Sending a message’: what the US and UK are attempting to do

Guardian editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger on Monday night disclosed the remarkable news that UK authorities, several weeks ago, threatened the Guardian UK with prior restraint if they did not destroy all of their materials provided by Edward Snowden, and then sent agents to the basement of the paper’s offices to oversee the physical destruction of hard drives. The Guardian has more details on that episode today, and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes interviewed the Guardian’s editor-in-chief about it last night. As Rusbridger explains, this behavior was as inane as it was thuggish: since this is 2013, not 1958, destroying one set of a newspaper’s documents doesn’t destroy them all, and since the Guardian has multiple people around the world with copies, they achieved nothing but making themselves look incompetently oppressive.
But conveying a thuggish message of intimidation is exactly what the UK and their superiors in the US national security state are attempting to accomplish with virtually everything they are now doing in this matter. On Monday night, Reuters’ Mark Hosenball reported the following about the 9-hour detention of my partner under a terrorism law, all with the advanced knowledge of the White House:
One US security official told Reuters that one of the main purposes of the British government’s detention and questioning of Miranda was to send a message to recipients of Snowden’s materials, including the Guardian, that the British government was serious about trying to shut down the leaks.”
I want to make one primary point about that. On Monday, Reuters did the same thing to me as they did last month: namely, they again wildly distorted comments I made in an interview – speaking in Portuguese, at 5:00 am at the Rio airport, waiting for my partner to come home after finally being released – to manufacture the sensationalizing headline that I was “threatening” the UK government with “revenge” journalism. That wasn’t remotely what I said or did, as I explained last night in a CNN interview (see Part 2).
But vowing to report on the nefarious secret spying activities of a large government – which is what I did – is called “journalism”, not “revenge”. As the Washington Post headline to Andrea Peterson’s column on Monday explained: “No, Glenn Greenwald didn’t ‘vow vengeance.’ He said he was going to do his job.” She added:
“Greenwald’s point seems to have been that he was determined not to be scared off by intimidation. Greenwald and the Guardian have already been publishing documents outlining surveillance programs in Britain, and Greenwald has long declared his intention to continue publishing documents. By doing so, Greenwald isn’t taking ‘vengeance.’ He’s just doing his job.”
But here’s the most important point: the US and the UK governments go around the world threatening people all the time. It’s their modus operandi. They imprison whistleblowers. They try to criminalize journalism. They threatened the Guardian with prior restraint and then forced the paper to physically smash their hard drives in a basement. They detained my partner under a terrorism law, repeatedly threatened to arrest him, and forced him to give them his passwords to all sorts of invasive personal information – behavior that even one of the authors of that terrorism law says is illegal, which the Committee for the Protection of Journalists said yesterday is just “the latest example in a disturbing record of official harassment of the Guardian over its coverage of the Snowden leaks”, and which Human Rights Watch says was “intended to intimidate Greenwald and other journalists who report on surveillance abuses.” And that’s just their recent behavior with regard to press freedoms: it’s to say nothing of all the invasions, bombings, renderings, torture and secrecy abuses for which that bullying, vengeful duo is responsible over the last decade.
But the minute anyone refuses to meekly submit to that, or stands up to it, hordes of authoritarians – led by state-loyal journalists – immediately start objecting: how dare you raise your voice to the empire? How dare you not politely curtsey to the Queen and thank the UK government for what they have done. The US and UK governments are apparently entitled to run around and try to bully and intimidate anyone, including journalists – “to send a message to recipients of Snowden’s materials, including the Guardian”, as Reuters put it – but nobody is allowed to send a message back to them. That’s a double standard that nobody should accept.
If the goal of the UK in detaining my partner was – as it now claims – to protect the public from terrorism by taking documents they suspected he had (and why would they have suspected that?), that would have taken 9 minutes, not 9 hours. Identically, the UK knew full well that forcing the Guardian UK to destroy its hard drives would accomplish nothing in terms of stopping the reporting: as the Guardian told them, there are multiple other copies around the world. The sole purpose of all of that, manifestly, is to intimidate. As the ACLU of Massachusetts put it:
The real vengeance we are seeing right now is not coming from Glenn Greenwald; it is coming from the state.”
But for state-loyal journalists, protesting thuggish and aggressive behavior from the state is out of the question. It’s only when aggressive challenges come from those who are bringing transparency and accountability to the state do they get upset and take notice. As Digby wrote last night: “many elite journalists seem to be joining the government repression of the free press instead of being defiant and protecting their own prerogatives.” That’s because they believe in subservient journalism, not adversarial journalism. I only believe in the latter.

The Wall Street Journal reported last night that NSA surveillance has a far greater reach than previously imagined – including 75% of domestic traffic – and included this excellent graphic with it about how that is done, taken in part from the Snowden materials we have been reporting.
Here is David Miranda explaining to the BBC what it’s like to be forced to turn over your passwords to security agents who have detained you under a terrorism law, so they can troll through your emails and Facebook account and Skype program while you are detained. Finally, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had an excellent commentary on Monday about all of this that really captures the heart of it all:
Following a series of stunning revelations concerning the NSA’s surveillance and data collection tactics, queries into Guardian journalist Glenn Greenwald’s personal life weren’t on the top of the list of pressing questions for most. But for those who did have questions about the columnist, who broke the bulk of the stories so far out of Edward Snowden’s leaks, the New York Daily News is here for you. Perhaps Rep. Peter King will take a break from calling for Greenwald’s prosecution and glean some new material from the story.
Of all the reporters publishing material based on the Snowden leaks, Greenwald has faced the strongest and most public scrutiny in the media for his role in reporting the story — essentially the same treatment levied at Snowden himself almost immediately after he revealed himself as the source.
Essentially, the Daily News revelations boil down to three broad stories: first, Greenwald’s involvement as a partner in Master Notions, a company that settled a lawsuit with a former client, which just happens to be a porn company, after the company’s owner refused to pay Master Notions for business consulting services.
“Owner Peter Haas “had this pornographic company he wasn’t able to maintain,” Greenwald said. They agreed to help him in return for 50% of the profits. In the two months the companies worked together, “Haas made more money than he ever made before in his entire life,” Master Notion’s filings say. But Haas refused to pay the company its share of the profits, which led to a nasty legal battle…After the business relationship soured, Haas also accused Greenwald and Master Notions of having swiped his client list to market their own videos on “hairystuds.com.”
Second, Greenwald’s back taxes and other apparent financial problems relating to his former law practice:
“Filings also show he’s had some money problems…The New York County Clerk’s office shows Greenwald has $126,000 in open judgments and liens against him dating back to 2000, including a total of $21,000 from the NYS Tax Dept. and the city Department of Finance.
There’s no record of those debts being paid, but Greenwald said he believes he’s all caught up — although he’s still trying to pay down an old IRS judgment against him from his lawyer days. Records show the IRS has an $85,000 lien against him.”
And third, a lawsuit (also settled) having to do with the size of the dog Greenwald and his then partner kept in their West Side apartment:
“In a 2003 lawsuit, he and his then partner, Werner Achetz, were sued by their West Side condo for having a dog that was bigger than building by-laws allowed.
The couple countered that they and their dog Uli were being singled out because they were gay, a charge the building denied. The case eventually settled.
“The co-op board said the dog could stay,” he said.
Greenwald strongly denied the more salacious parts of the three stories — that, for instance, he sent bullying emails to the porn company owner using the bonkers screen name of “DomMascHry31” — while responding to the story’s findings.
He also published a longer piece of his own on Wednesday, basically pre-empting the Daily News’s story:
“So I’ve been fully expecting those kinds of attacks since I began my work on these NSA leaks. The recent journalist-led “debate” about whether I should be prosecuted for my reporting on these stories was precisely the sort of thing I knew was coming.
As a result, I was not particularly surprised when I received an email last night from a reporter at the New York Daily News informing me that he had been “reviewing some old lawsuits” in which I was involved – “old” as in: more than a decade ago – and that “the paper wants to do a story on this for tomorrow”. He asked that I call him right away to discuss this, apologizing for the very small window he gave me to comment.”
While newsworthy figures, and bombshell stories, are generally fair game for scrutiny, the Daily News doesn’t exactly make the case for the relevance of any of their dirt the actual reporting that put Greenwald in the spotlight in the first place.
Update, 10:46 p.m.: Buzzfeed published a long piece on Greenwald on Wednesday, too. While the piece is a much more complete profile of the journalist than the Daily News’s was, it’s notable that the piece devotes significant space to the same stories outlined in the Daily News. Here’s their lede:
“Before Glenn Greenwald was the journalist who broke and defended the most important story of 2013, he was many other things: an underage South Florida politician, a lawyer at a high-powered corporate firm, Kips Bay’s most combative tenant, and even the legal arm of his business partner’s gay porn distribution company.”
